Three-Dimensional Dental X-rays
We are excited as one of the first dental practices in our area to utilize 3-D cone beam CT digital imaging. Imagine a three-dimensional X-ray that is more accurate than traditional X-rays, is much faster, and does all this with much reduced radiation exposure.
A primary advantage of ultra cone beam images when diagnosing and evaluating treatment options is the dentist’s ability to see the patient’s anatomy in 3-D, instead of flat, two-dimensional images. This allows for much greater accuracy for any dental treatment, especially dental implant placement and oral surgeries. The process takes only a few minutes, and images are captured in multiple cross sections, which allow us to make accurate bone measurements.

Sticky plaque -- food, saliva, and bacteria -- starts to form on your teeth after you eat, releasing acids that attack tooth enamel. Untreated plaque turns into tartar, which builds under gum lines and is hard to remove with flossing. The longer it stays on your teeth, the more harmful it is. Bacteria in plaque causes inflammation and leads to gum disease. Having high blood sugar often makes gum disease worse.

Learn more about what the American Dental Association has to say about the role played by Dentists!
With the American population living longer, seniors' oral health has become an important issue, as has the widespread problem of elder abuse. Every year more than 2.5 million older Americans may be victims of elder abuse, and in some cases dentists serve as the first line of defense, according to a report in the May/June 2005 issue of General Dentistry, the clinical, peer-reviewed journal of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).

Custom Smile Design and Preview
Prior to starting each veneer, full-mouth rehabilitation, or other case, we start with smile analyses together with facial analyses to determine what steps are necessary to achieve the smile you desire. We also create a diagnostic mock-up with the new smile design that will allow you to “try on” veneers or crowns to see if the final result is what you are looking for. This helps you understand and see how the new look will improve your smile and facial appearance prior to doing any tooth preparation. There’s no better way to have peace of mind before you begin treatment!

Regular checkups and professional cleanings can help keep a mouth healthy. And a dentist can teach you the best ways to care for your teeth and gums at home.

Don’t replace fillings just because they’re old
When you have a cavity, the dentist removes it and puts in a filling. These fillings can last for many years, but some people get silver fillings removed because they don’t like the color. However, the process of removing a filling can weaken the tooth. Additionally, insurance may not cover the removal.
